Have you ever been down and unable to get out of your funk? It seems like your mind just keeps straying towards negative thoughts which makes you moody, aggravated, and irritated? One thing after another keeps happening and before you know it you’ve had a crappy day.  Unfortunately, we’ve all had days like that. At some point you wish you could just start your day all over again or at least somehow broken the cycle.

Here Is What I Do When I Know I Need To Change My Tune.

1st, I catch myself as soon as possible and 2nd, I use these tips to change my thoughts.

8 Tips to help you change your thoughts and turn your day around

  1. Think Of A Happy/Positive Time!

Have a great memory on hand. One where you happy, content, and centered. Close your eyes, take 3 deep breaths, and focus on that memory and the feelings that come with it.

Hold the feeling for at least 30 seconds to a minute if you can.

For me, it’s like getting a big warm hug of light and love. A great resource for raising your vibrations is: Ask and It Is Given: Learning to Manifest Your Desires by Esther and Jerry Hicks. 

  1. Feeling Gratitude!!!

When we are in a grateful state of mind we are in resonance with a very high frequency and powerful energy vibrations. We are in a state of love, joy, and happiness. Write down at least 10 things (more if you can) that you are grateful for. This will definitely get you back in your groove.

  1. Stand And Sit Up Straight! Feel Better And Gain Confidence!

Amy Cuddle, a Harvard professor, did a study to show that by standing in poses of power it affects us both physically and psychologically. I have slouched my entire life and am in the process of erasing the habit. I know it’s partly because I don’t want to be seen and so I draw inward.

I recently I bought a posture corrector and as silly as it may sound, I feel better. I feel more confident, I’m more productive (my husband definitely agrees) and I feel like I can take on more things. So as I write this, I use it and sit at my desk. It keeps me uplifted, motivated, and focused. Although I don’t wear it all of the time, it has given my body that muscle memory to keep me standing up straighter and more confidently.   

The first time I put it on, I was like, “Who are you to stand up so straight?”. I had to have a little chat with myself and tell myself “Who am I not to stand up straight?” I was so shocked that I had that type of thinking. What an eye opener! I kept using it, more thoughts came up and it really became an opportunity for me to let go of so many negative thoughts and patterns I didn’t realize I had or had thought I had gotten over. So, sit up straight and walk with your head tall!

  1.  Tapping or EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). 

What is tapping you may ask? “Tapping is a combination of Ancient Chinese Acupressure and Modern Psychology that works to physically alter your brain, energy system and body all at once. The practice consists of tapping with your fingertips on specific meridian points while talking through traumatic memories and a wide range of emotions… As Dr. Dawson Church says,… “EFT gives you the best of both worlds, body, and mind, like getting a massage during a psychotherapy session (Ortner).” A course that I have gone through and love because of its simplicity is through the Awakenings Institute EFT Course. 

  1. Take Action! 

Whether it’s exercising, going outside, walking in the corridor, painting, doing yoga, DO something. Move your body. Get up and walk around. Go up and down the stairs.

  1. Read An Inspirational Quote.

Just reading something positive and inspirational can make you step back, take a moment, calm yourself, and focus your thoughts in a different direction. 

  1. Listen To Music

“The Law of Vibration states that everything in the Universe moves and vibrates – everything is vibrating at one speed or another. Nothing rests. Everything you see around you is vibrating at one frequency or another, and so are you (Loken, C.)”. 

So, we are just one vibrating mass with everyone and everything. Why is this so important, you might ask? 

Well, have you ever played with tuning forks in science class? Some frequencies make you feel good, some bad, some can even break glass. Well listening to the wrong frequencies can affect our energy in our body. Have you heard of the Solfeggio notes, Just Intonation or the Twelve-Tone Equal Temperament Scales?

“According to Richard Huisken, music tuned to 432 Hz is softer and brighter, giving greater clarity and is easier on the ears. Most modern music worldwide has been tuned to A=440 Hz and it is said that this frequency conflicts with chakras from the base of the spine to the heart; and stimulates the ego and left-brain function, which can suppress our intuition (Mayo)”. Just look at the pictures.

Why is music tuned to 440 then, you might say? Well, there’s a lot of theories and ideas around the subject which you can research yourself. However, just know the world has not always gone by 440 Hz frequency. 

What To Do?

Get on Youtube and listen to some music with Solfeggio frequencies. Different frequencies can help you release negative energy, attract positive things, manifest, heal and open you to the universe, among other things. In an article by Attuned Vibrations,

The tuning practice adopted for western cultures from about the 16th century and used today is known as “Twelve-Tone Equal Temperament. According to Joachim Ernst-Berendt, the 12-Tone Equal Temperament mistunes all consonant intervals except the octave. Our modern scale can create situations such as ‘boxed-in’ thinking, stuffed and suppressed emotions, fear-based or lack consciousness, all of which then tend to manifest into physical symptoms called ‘dis-ease’ or disease.

Our modern-day musical scale is out of sync when compared with the original Solfeggio scale. If we want to bring harmony in our lives, we need to replace the dissonant western scale with a web of subtle and clear intervallic relationships of the Solfeggio music. Let the music become once again a tool to raise human nature and a method to connect you with the Source.”

  1. Smell away your Troubles – Essential Oils

Are you a person who is into smells. Take a whiff of this calming oil or others to help you relax and get back into alignment with yourself. You can also rub this under your nose, on the backs of your ears or on your wrists to continue to enjoy the smell. 

After all or a couple of those… Meditate! If you are in a mental place where you can meditate, do. However, if you are not in a place where you can calm your mind enough to meditate to above things will hopefully get you there. There are tons of ways to meditate, maybe you want to do a walking meditation, you could sit and close your eyes and focus on your heart, maybe you want to focus on your breath. So, if you are feeling like you are in a negative space, grumpy, upset, or stressed, read your positive memory you have written down, listen to a music playlist you have at hand while sniffing a calming oil, write down some things you appreciate in your life, relax and read something inspiring, sit or stand up straight and smile even if you don’t feel like it or do some tapping. Something that breaks up your thinking and puts you in the moment and diverts your thoughts and emotions somewhere else.
